A new report indicates that France is looking to set a law for age of consent, and some are considering making it 13.

According to AP News, Nicole Belloubet, the justice minister of France, said making 13 the age of consent was “worth considering.”

Others proposed making an age of consent law between 13 and 15.

The report indicates that a push for an age of consent law comes after a number of cases of sexual relationships between younger and older individuals that would be clearly illegal in the United States. (RELATED: Locals: Roy Moore’s Behavior ‘Not A Big Secret’)

The age of consent in the U.S. varies state by state, but is usually set between 16 to 18 years old. (RELATED: FLASHBACK: Alec Baldwin Allegedly Lied About Not Knowing Actress Was Underage In Sex Scene)

Many nations around the world don’t have any legal age of consent, or rely on tradition and religious practice to dictate it.
