Custom Gamerpics Coming to Xbox Live

Xbox Insiders will soon be able to update their gamerpic with a custom image, though all Xbox users may be waiting a while longer for this feature.

Arena on Xbox Live

A highly requested Xbox Live feature is on its way.

In a Monday blog post, Xbox Live's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb announced that Xbox Insiders will soon be able to update their gamerpic with a custom image. If you're not an Insider, though, know that the option will "be in preview longer than other features to ensure it's great for everyone when released," Hyrb warned.

If you own an Xbox club, meanwhile, you will be able to upload custom images as a Club logo and background. Like custom gamerpics, this feature should be in preview longer than some others.

The blog post details several other feature updates Microsoft plans to roll out to select Xbox Insider members starting this month. Improvements are coming to Arena, Activity Feed, Looking for Group, and more.

Going forward, you'll be able to discover tournaments from your Xbox One or the Xbox app on Windows 10, get notifications when your match is ready, jump right in on the Xbox One, see automatic results, and show them off on your activity feed. Plus, World of Tanks fans will be able to participate in new Arena-powered tournaments on Xbox One.

In Activity Feed, you'll be able to hide posts that annoy you; pin one you like to the top of your feed; and filter posts by friends, games, or Clubs. Another handy feature will let you filter your game library by platform (Xbox One and Xbox 360) on the My Apps and Games screen.

It should also be easier to vet gamers interested in joining your party. When you create a Looking for Group post, you'll be able to see new "vetting cards" that show relevant stats like a person's kill/death ratio, rank, or score. You'll also be able to search Looking for Group posts from the Achievements tab, so you can find posts related to the Achievement you're trying to finish.

These new features will begin appearing for select Xbox Insiders the next few weeks.
