Derek Jeter might have a Hall of Fame rival in his quest to buy the Marlins

As noted recently in this very space, future Hall of Famer Derek Jeter is reportedly teaming up with former Florida governor and onetime presidential candidate Jeb Bush to make a bid to purchase the Miami Marlins. Into this developing fray now comes a current Hall of Famer and another political scion.

Robert Murray of FanRagSports has the scoop ...

Glavine of course won 305 games across parts of 22 big-league seasons, 17 of which came with the Braves. He last played in 2008 and was elected into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot. As for Romney, 47, he's the son of former Massachusetts governor and former GOP nominee for president Mitt Romney. Bloomberg notes that Glavine's joining not just Tagg Romney but a group led by Romney, who's the co-founder of Solamere Capital.

The Marlins are currently owned by art dealer Jeffrey Loria, who's looking to sell the club, perhaps before the end of the year.
