WATCH: LeBron James passes Kobe Bryant for third on NBA playoff scoring list

This just in -- LeBron James is really good.

James continued his assault on the NBA record book with a jumper in the second quarter of Thursday's Game 3 of the Cavaliers' opening-round playoff series with the Indiana Pacers. The basket gave him 5,641 playoff points for his career, passing Kobe Bryant for third on the all-time list.

It's easy to forget that LeBron is just 32 years old. At this pace he's going to shatter the record for playoff points -- he's closing in on No. 2 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (5,762 points) and No. 1 Michael Jordan (5,987 points).

I know what you're thinking -- LeBron came into the NBA at 18 and has been in six straight NBA Finals, so he's played like a million playoff games -- but he actually passed Kobe on the scoring list in far fewer games (Kobe had 220, and James is playing in his 202nd). The objection does hold for Michael Jordan, however, who played in "only" 197 career playoff games to get his 5,987 points.

Barring injury, LeBron will certainly pass both Kareem and M.J. to become the NBA's all-time leading playoff scorer. If the Cavs have a deep run, he'll likely do it this year.
